There is a whole lot that can be said about this cigar concerning flavor and quality. Rich, mouthwatering smoke prevails, from the initial light to the last puff. I honestly don't gravitate towards this particular vitola, but I really like this one. The most impressive stat this cigar boasts is its price. With a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, the Payback delivers a luxurious smoking experience at a decidedly non-luxurious price. At around 9 bucks, this cigar has to be one of the best values among the 1,300 facings in our humidor. Buy a handful, and if you are as impressed as I was, you'll be comin back for a box.
Prelight: Some sweetness, cocoa, and earthiness are present. Good easy draw.
First third: Notes of cocoa, coffee and wood really come through. Draw is still very good. Burn isn’t razor sharp, but overall pretty even. Medium bodied.
Second third: Continuing notes of cocoa and wood. Some spice has creeped in. Still medium bodied. Ash is very loose and flakey.
Final third: Same tasting notes as before. Good burning cigar. Only one relight needed, mostly my fault.
Recommendation: Not my typical ring gauge (60). I enjoyed it. Buy several and park a couple to see how they age.
